The ribbon cutting ceremony for Quantum Field, Tysons Corner’s new athletic facility, will be held this Saturday, June 22nd, at 10 AM.
The field’s synthetic turf has a playing surface of 180 feet x 360 feet, and will accommodate five sports. Surrounding the field will be black vinyl chain link fencing, concrete walkways, bleacher pads, and sound containing walls.
The field was designed by the Meridian Group, and is located just southeast of Meridian’s soon to be constructed urban district – The Boro –a transit-oriented neighborhood with parks and open space. The Boro will host the region’s largest Whole Foods Market, nearly 700 residences, a movie theater, and office space.
Quantum Field and The Boro represent projects that stand in contrast to the sprawling nature of Tysons Corner, possibly helping it take steps towards walkability.
