Town of Vienna Vies for Caboose-to-Caboose Title

Town of Vienna Around Town

In the spirit of friendly competition, the Town of Vienna is participating in the Caboose-to-Caboose Bike Ride Challenge! The contest between the Town of Vienna and the Town of Herndon encourages bike riders of all ages to pedal along the W&OD Trail from the Vienna Caboose to the Herndon Caboose and back for a chance to put their Town in the winner’s circle. The round-trip distance is 16.6 miles and cyclists get an entire month to give it a try. The challenge runs Oct. 1-31.

The first 225 registered participants will receive a T-shirt representing their town, blue for Vienna and red for Herndon. For the Town of Vienna to get credit for the trip, each rider must snap a selfie in front of one of the cabooses, post it on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and tag us @TownofViennaVA. The town that finishes with the greatest number of posted selfies at the end of the month wins.

The cost to participate is just $10 for kids ages 15 and younger and $15 for participants ages 16 to adult. Participants can register at the following Vienna Parks and Recreation link with activity number 250630-A1: or call the Vienna Parks and Recreation Department at 703-255-6360.

The inaugural Caboose-to-Caboose Challenge had to be cancelled last year for pandemic-related reasons. Parks and recreation organizers from both towns hope to make this an annual event.
