McLean Community Center Around Town, Art & Culture

The McLean Community Center (MCC) offers the following activities in June. All patrons are encouraged to wear masks while inside the building. Please check the center’s website, www.mcleancenter.org, for up-to-date information. Residents of the center’s tax district, Small District 1A-Dranesville, are eligible for discounts on fees. The center is located at 1234 Ingleside Ave.


The Old Firehouse

Open House
for Rising 7th Graders

Through Friday, June 10
4-7 p.m.

The Old Firehouse is opening its after-school program doors to rising 7th graders of all MCC tax district elementary schools! Join OFC to experience all of what the Old Firehouse has to offer—for free—for the remainder of the school year. Transportation from Franklin Sherman, Chesterbrook and Churchill Road elementary schools, to the Old Firehouse will be provided via the Old Firehouse’s vans. All participants from other schools are welcome to attend but must be dropped off by a parent or guardian.

The Old Firehouse presents After 7—a themed party that includes raffles, contests, catered food and drinks. One of the hottest DJs in the DMV will be playing the hottest hip-hop, top 40 and dance hall tracks, plus your requests. Get ready for some fun and join us… After 7.

By popular demand, The Alden’s foreign language movie series is back! Curated by Performing Arts Director Sarah Schallern Treff, with more than a little help from our audience, the series will pick up where it was so rudely interrupted in 2020, with a few surprises thrown in. All screenings are free, but advance registration is required. Schedule subject to change.


MCC Governing Board

June Meeting

This is the final meeting of the 2021-2022 Governing Board and the first meeting of the 2022-2023 Governing Board. All Governing Board meetings are open to the public. Tax district residents (Small District 1A-Dranesville) who wish to speak during the “Citizen Comment” portion of the meeting are asked to call the center at 703-790-0123, TTY: 711, to be placed on the agenda.

For ages 5-12. “You Are Not Alone” is an empathetic and inclusive picture book by the Alphabet Rockers that empowers kids to love their beautiful selves, celebrate their identities, stand up to hate and have one another’s backs no matter what. For all ages. An essential component of the nine-day, fall Hindu festival, Navratri, Garba is an intoxicating, high-energy folkdance style from the Indian state of Gujarat. This community event has been reimagined for all to participate in the fun at any time of the year! This engagement of Garba360 is funded through the Mid-Atlantic Tours program of Mid-Atlantic Arts with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
