50 Spots Are Now Open to Play the Grandmaster

The Boro, Tysons’ premier destination for luxury urban living in the heart of Northern Virginia, is bringing ‘The Boro’s Gambit’ back to The Sandlot Tysons on Saturday, May 21. Grandmaster Rashad Babaev, an international chess sensation and one of the only grandmasters in the DMV, invites spectators and up to 50 players (from beginners to experts) to face-off against him in fast-paced, simultaneous games of chess. The final three players will take home a special prize! There will also be lawn games set up around Boro Park for all guests to enjoy.

Spectators of all ages and players of all skill levels are encouraged to register for The Boro’s Gambit. After the event, check out a few of The Boro’s many shops and restaurants, or catch a flick at the ShowPlace ICON Theatre. About Rashad Babaev,
Chess Grandmaster

Originally from Baku, Azerbaijan, Rashad Babaev became a Grandmaster in 2007 and is the winner of 30 international tournaments. As a young player he had esteemed coaches, including Oleg Privorotsky, the teacher of World Champion, Garry Kasparov. With 21 years of experience, Babaev is a full-time chess coach and has taught 11,000 students.

The event is FREE for spectators and $30 for players.
