Town of Vienna Independence Day Celebration Date Changed to 7/1

Town of Vienna Around Town

Due to staffing shortages, the Town of Vienna Independence Day Celebration has been rescheduled for Friday, July 1, 2022 at Yeonas Park. The U.S. Navy Concert Band will perform beginning at 8 p.m., and a 20-minute fireworks display will begin at 9:30 p.m.

“As much as we were looking forward to celebrating on the 4th of July, the company that provides the fireworks show explained that a shortage of licensed pyrotechnic staff made it impossible to meet the demand for that day, and the company had to cancel multiple contracts, including ours,” said Vienna Parks and Recreation Director Leslie Herman. “Rather than cancel the event altogether, we worked with the company to find an alternate date, and fortunately the U.S. Navy Concert Band was able to reschedule, too.”

Those who plan to attend the celebration are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets. The Vienna Little League concession stand will be open offering food and beverages for sale, or residents may bring their own snacks. No alcohol, glass containers, sparklers/fireworks or dogs are permitted. Lawn chairs are not permitted on the baseball fields but may be used anywhere else in the park.

For safety reasons, the fireworks display will be launched from nearby Southside Park and will be visible from Yeonas Park. For more information about the festivities and nearby street closures, visit www.viennava.gov/fireworks.
