Vienna Police Participates in National Drug Take Back Day

The Vienna Police Department is participating in the 23rd National Drug Take Back Day, the second event of its kind this year. This one-day initiative, in conjunction with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and state and local law enforcement agencies, gives community members an opportunity to safely and anonymously drop off expired, unused, or unwanted medications.

On Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., Vienna residents can drop off unused and unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications at the Vienna Police Department’s temporary facility at the former Faith Baptist Church, located at 301 Center Street S, Vienna, VA 22180. Medications may be dropped off in their original containers, but personal or identifying information should be removed from prescription bottles. Liquid products should be sealed in their original container to prevent leakage. Intravenous solutions, injectables, and syringes will not be accepted due to associated hazards, except for EpiPens.

Vienna Police collected 364 pounds of unwanted medications from participating residents during the last Drug Take Back Day on April 30, 2022. The medications were then delivered to the Virginia State Police for proper disposal.
